Plum Quick TREX VS GE Beast Vs Flight System Motors
My Admiral B2 motor burnt up. I'm in the market for a motor and I'm done with Chinese motors. which is best??? My cart is a 99 EZGO DCS. 500 amp Altrax controller, 400 amp solenoid and heavy wires T875 batteries. It has a 6 inch lift 22in tires and a bed. I use my buggy to deer hunt in hilly terrain. I want a HIGH torque motor.

Contact EMP and have one built for your specific application.
http://empinc.biz/ There is a fairly comprehensive questionnaire to fill out, but I've heard it is well worth the effort. If your motor is salvageable, he might take it as a core. Be sure to install the right field map in your controller for whatever motor you use. |

+1 to what JohnnieB said.
If I ever need another motor I'm contacting Chuck at EMP. |

Thank you Johnny. I need a tough heavy duty motor. I climb hills regularly and I use mine drag deer out of the woods.

Re: Plum Quick TREX VS GE Beast Vs Flight System Motors
With the 22" tall tires, you'll need a motor with a bit over 22% more torque than stock just to break even and if the tires are the low pressure type (less than 10PSI max inflation pressure), even more is needed to break even. However, I see you are running a 48V battery pack, so that more than offsets the torque loss cause by tire height.
Running slow on tall tires does cause a lot of heat in any motor, but the longer the motor case the more heat it dissipates, and EMP has an optional over-temperature alarm they can install on their motors. (Thermostatic switch with dry contacts that can be used to trigger a visual or audible alarm or both.) Personally, If I'd burnt up a motor, I'd rig up a way to monitor the actual motor case temperature also. |

You can also change the gears in the rear diff to compensate. That way the motor won't have to work so hard to pull a deer up a hill with big tires.
