No spark And why are there two coils?
I have a 89 club car that has no spark. Now here's my question, what is the purpose of having two coils? (exciter and ignition coil) I have replaced both with new. I tried removing the ground wire from the exciter coil attempting to fiqure out why I have no spark. Shouldn't this engine run independant of the micro switches and other safe gaurds if the ground is removed? Lastly can anyone tell me how to test these coils as maybe I got a defective one? Once again your knowlege and experience in invaluble.. Thanks, Mike

Re: No spark And why are there two coils?
Did you set the air gap when you installed the new coil? Just guessing? I have a spark tester which plugs in line at the plug and lights up each time... I guess you could do the old spark test to engine ground.... Is the engine grounded?
