ST Sport 2+2 VPS - Poor hill climbing?
Hi,
I have a new cart. It's a ST Sport 2+2 36v, Pds, 20" tires. The cart goes fine on flat ground but is very disappointing when going up hills. It is clear that not enough torque is being generated by the motor. The batteries have probably 10-15 charge cycles on them. The cart has 4g cables everywhere. Ive added the vps option and there is no noticeable difference on torque but there is an obvious difference in regen braking. I've run the cart side by side with others In each of the performance modes and there is a clear difference in performance with mine falling short. My thoughts are that there is something wrong in the controller. Any ideas what might be wrong? Thanks, Mj |

Re: ST Sport 2+2 VPS - Poor hill climbing?
ST Sport 2+2 is a lifted Cart
36 volt is weak for a lifted cart. PDS systems do not so well in lifted configurations with the stock motor and controller. They actually have a special chip based on the terrain for PDS cars. Blue or Yellow are the 2 chip colors I believe. Was this ordered as a NEW car from a factory authorized dealer? What is the VPS option? |

Sounds like the VPS may not be working properly? Take it to your local dealer for service!

Re: ST Sport 2+2 VPS - Poor hill climbing?
If this was ordered as a new cart, it should be under the factory warranty. The dealership you purchased it from should resolve this issue for you. I never liked the "switchable" mode setups personally, but I suppose that is a personal choice.
Some things to note: "Freedom" mode on a lifted golf car is a recipe for disaster... There have been numerous posts regarding this, but the bottom line is that you will eventually end up replacing the motor/controller when using this mode. Not sure how your VPS is setup but, when changing from one mode to another, you have to cycle the "run/tow" toggle switch for the controller to accept the new parameters. |
