Seperate 12 volt battery for lights
I have a 2002 PDS cart that has a compartment to the left of the batteries ( I believe it is for the charger) I would like to put a 12 v battery in there to run my headlights. Does anyone have any recommendations for size that would fit in there? I thought about just going to Walmart and buying a car 12 volt to stick in there, or should I buy a deep cycle? what really is the difference?

Buy a battery that:
1. Fits in the space 2. Fits the charging solution you have. |

Deep cycle would be the best bet as they tend to stay at full voltage till they fall off completely. They can be charged with any 12v automotive charger using a 10 amp setting or so.

Re: Seperate 12 volt battery for lights
I put 12V blem car batteries in the cart i built with lights and winches. You can run a deep cycle if you want, but wither battery will need to be replaced every 3 years or so due to conditions it is used in.

Re: Seperate 12 volt battery for lights
Any of your battery distrubutors like Interstate will have them. I know Battery Sales and Service will have them. I buy my trojans from Battery Sales and Service in bham. I have gotten blems from them b4. I actuatly buy my blems from Simmons Battery (Deka distributor) here in Montgomery.
Sams, walmart, parts houses will not have them. |

Re: Seperate 12 volt battery for lights
courtesycart, thanks for the info. Will about any car battery fit in there? or do I need to get a smaller one? The reason I ask is my brother gave me a big deep cycle and it would not fit.

Re: Seperate 12 volt battery for lights
i just put a 12v trojan 1275 in that spot. its tight but it fit. The problem you run into is how are you gonna hold it down. The hold down we built is hard as heck to get 2.
any car battery should work. |

Re: Seperate 12 volt battery for lights
I USE A DIE HARD DEEP CYCLE MARINE BATTERY (SIZE 24M),AND USE JUST A REGULAR AUTO HOLD DOWN WITH TWO THREADED RODS WITH A RT. ANGLE ON THE BOTTOM.THE ANGLE SLIDES IN THE SLOTS ON THE CART AND TURN .I USE WINGNUTS FOR EASY REMOVAL. HAD NO PROBLEMS,AND THE BATTERY RUNS MY RADIO AND MY LEDS.
