Default Marathon Rear End Grinding

Whenever i drive there is a loud grinding sound from the rear end. I'm not sure if its coming from the differential or from a bad bearing in the rear end.

Had that same problem on a Limo.Turned out to be two bearings on top the rear drive.Had a shop fix it...they had it in 1000 parts scattered over the floor.Cost the customer $400.00 to fix it.Bearings were like $40.00.

There are basically 3 pr of bearings in the housing. It sounds to me like he is referring to the input shaft bearings. The input shaft is available with new bearings pressed onto the shaft... it can be accessed by removing the motor and removed with a pr of snap ring pliers.

The noise as you describe can come from a gear or bearing. Guessing at whats wrong and throwing parts in the differential can get expensive.

Sounds like some more investigation is needed.
