Difference between the newer and older TXT series "fleet" carts?
I've been scouring the earth for a series cart to start my hunting buggy project. I'll basically be replacing a lot of the stock parts (PQ motor, controller, solenoid, f/r switch, 48v conversion, batteries, and obviously a lift).
So here's the question, from what I have seen a mid-90s series cart can be had for as cheap as $800 and a fresh-off-the-course '06 or '07 series cart for ~$1500. While spending $700 less from the start sounds great, is there a chance I'm going to regret this down the road? Or am I replacing pretty much everything that would make the difference between the years? |

You are getting a cart with 10 more years of wear on it... this shows up in suspension and steering, repetitive use items like key switch F&R and brake cables also wear out. Differentials have 10 more yrs of wear..... it is really hard to say, if $700 makes a big difference in the project feasibility then figure half of that will go back into the cart to catch up on deferred maintenance and go from there.
I would go with a newer cart and sell the unused good items... Hope this helps. |

Of course that helps Scotty. I was hoping to hear I should go with the newer cart.

Re: Difference between the newer and older TXT series "fleet" carts?
One of the biggest advantages of the newer cart (besides the things Scotty mentioned) is that prior to 2000, the steering box was located on the firewall of the cart. Carts made after 2001 relocated the steering box to the front axle. If you have the chance to do so, test drive one of each. Steering is Far smoother on the newer carts and they eliminated most of the grease points on the front end.
