Default 98 ezgo issue

I have a 98 electric ezgo golf cart. The issue is that my wheels won't spin so I took the oil pan off checked the gears all of them were fine, then I took the axle shafts out they were fine also so I put them back in and pushed the gas pedal they span, so I put everything back together and put the wheels on then tried again the wheels wouldn't spin. Does anyone know how to fix this? Also what type of oil should I put back in it?

Check the hubs at the end of the axle sounds like you may have a stripped one.

If the axle nuts spin but the tire does not you have a stripped out hub, go here > http://cartsunlimited.net/Ezgo_Pinch_Hubs.html

If the motor spins but the axle nuts don't then you might have a stripped out input shaft.

The explanation is that is how a differential works, it drives only the wheel with the least resistance, in your case the stripped one. You would probably best off to replace them both as the "good" one is probably on its way out as well.

Ok thanks for the reply. Also battery life is horrible it last 1 hour after being fully charged, they are 5 months old. Any thing I could do without having to replace the batteries?

Which batteries do you have? (Volts and Amp-Hour rating)
Which charger are you using?
How often do you charge the batteries? (Should be charged after each use)
What is the battery pack voltage and individual battery voltages about 12 hours after the come off charge? (Fully charged 36V pack should read 38.2V and a fully charged 6V battery should read 6.37V)
What are the battery pack and individual battery voltages after the 1 hour run-time you mentioned?
