Default charger arches at battery plug

hi all noob to carting was giving a 1991 ez go. put in batteries cleaned cables plugged in charger and it arched off when i put plug to cart. can anyone help.from cart plug there is only the pos cable and neg cable on plug. as for the charger its old and is a ezgo textron with only two wires at plug

If it arcs and then charges it is probably on when it is plugged in, meaning it may have the delay start relay bypassed inside the charger? A draw or a short will cause an arc.

thanks for the reply mr. scott .i didnt have the charger plugged into the wall at the time. when it arched it burnt some of the chargers prong on one side.

It is likely the polarity has been reversed at the charger or the cart. Scottyb

ok yall quick update . I fixed charger they had port wires reversed. so I have charge now . now time for a new post
