Default 48v Voltage Reducer Question

I just got my 48V Voltage Reducer for ScottyB`s today. Well, I read the instructions and I got to wondering, if the red wire goes to a Positive, how does the yellow wire cut the power to the reducer if the red wire is always on? Thanks.

I have never seen inside of that perticular reducer, but my guess would be the mosfets or transistors that convert the power by way of PWM from 48 to 12 volts get powered down with the yellow wire turned off. A transistor is like a digital relay or solenoid, but can be turned on and off Very quickly (thousnads, millions, or more times per second) to regulate power flow and therefore useable voltage. the voltage reducers are not typically transformer-based designs because of the widely varying input voltage, and the additional complication that would be necessary to compensate for that and give a stable output voltage.

Ok, let`s see if I follow, when the transistor in the reducer gets cut off by the yellow wire all power is cut no matter if the red wire is going to the Positive?
