Re: Upgrade stock club car controller
Isn't that something
FSIP is saying that we need to make our carts OLD STYLE so we can use OLDER COMPONENTS..... I installed the Hi Speed Motor from Carts Unlimited, and it works great as is with all stock components I'm wondering if FSIP can even repair the controllers for the Excel Drive system It seems like everyone has the same thing to say about it CONVERT BACK TO THE DINOSAUR AGE STUFF jusy saying OK, have a great day Dale D |

Re: Upgrade stock club car controller
I have NO IDEA now
They have confused me so bad, that I am thinking about just selling my cart and getting a small car I bought a BRAND NEW Club Car Precedent i2 Excel Drive Champion Edition at the end of the model year directly from Club Car in Agusta Georgia. It is BRAND NEW, and I modded it with a New Hi Speed Motor, put on Larger tires and custom Rims, installed a VIP Dash, Radio, Speakers, Rear View Mirrors, upgraded the cables to HUGE cables, I had to DESIGN AND BUILD My own 1" lift kit. The cart runs great as is. It will go almost 30mph. I was just looking to upgrade my controler ( but Mine works great as is ) because SOME say it is not heavy duty enough to handle the Hi Speed Motor with 14" Wheels, and 21" tires on it. I hae been running it for 6 weeks now, without a single burp, os doing anything harmful to it. These guy's know alot more then I do, so, I am trying to use their advice. But, if you have a NEW STYLE CART, with the Excel Drive System, you are SCREWED, because no manufacturer wants to produce ANYTHING for this style of cart If your SN starts with PD, or PH, You have the Excel Drive system and have to be happy with the things you have. There are not many AFTERMARKET items for them.... You'll be like me, BUILT IT YOURSELF Dale D |

Re: Upgrade stock club car controller
NewtoBuggies,
I did not mean to imply it was a good idea to do it... I have a lot of electronics experience, but without a schematic and specific knowledge that the different models of a particular controller do indeed share a common board/platform, it is not a trivial task at all. I think that would be a good option if your controller was burnt and you were having it repaired, but I would not personally do it to a new controller. |

Re: Upgrade stock club car controller
Sergio,
I do not intend to do it to a perfectly working controller. That would be dumb on my part. I am just the guy that if like you said my controller was damaged and I needed to get it fixed or buy a new one, This looks like a reasonable option. Im the guy that would try it to save a buck and if it didn't work because I screwed it up, then I would have to suck it up since it would be on me. But thanks for the post it was very informative. |

Sergio
Yes, My cart does still have the pedal up braking with this hi speed motor installed and everything works as good as when I got the cart brand new The torque is actually about the same as brand new too I was just hoping to extend the life of my stock components And like most guy;s on here, get that EXTRA boost when needed I guess when the stru OBC bolt kit arrives, I'll just finish installing the cables I made up and be satisfied with it I got another controler from a friend that did the Wiring harness upgrade and he gave me the old unit I brought it to Rick, and he is looking into it right now He said it doesn't look to difficult to upgrade, but he must run some dionostics on it and call Curtis before we go buy more parts Dale D |
