Re: cruise control for ezgo golf cart ???
I know most of us were just funnin', but if he lives in a flat area, it would be pretty easy, with an ITS or a pot. A pot would be cheaper but either could work. You have to use a relay to bypass the throttle until you tapped the brake, then drop out the relay and go back to the foot throttle. Use a latching circuit to trap the foot throttle bypass.
If he has a lot of hills, then it would get a little tricky, unless he doesn't mind slowing down uphill. Even a car cruise control won't prevent you from speeding up going downhill. |

Re: cruise control for ezgo golf cart ???
Seriously though, it wouldn't be that tough an upgrade. A pot, with a push button to engage the latching bypass circuit would be a breeze. An ITS would require a separate ITS and slug to be mechanically connected to a dash mounted lever, but the same push button to engage.
There are plenty of ways to do the brake cut-off, but the easiest would be an MS that only makes or breaks at the top of the brake travel. The slightest touch would disengage the bypass. I've used whisker switches, which is a limit switch with a stiff springy wire for the lever. They're much easier to adjust for something that may not be precisely repeatable, as the brake parts may bounce and expand and contract when hot and cold. |

Actually, if you want real cruise control, you need automation. How 'bout a Cylon, or two?
