Relay Wiring
Hey all I’m pretty new to all of this and I’ve hit a road block. I’m trying to wire in a relay to be able to kill the power to my 48v to 12v converter. I bought a 48v relay but I either got the wrong one or I’m completely messing up the wiring. I’ve added a picture of the relay I purchased. Does anyone have a wiring diagram or recommendations?

Re: Relay Wiring
The two small tabs (3/16") are the 48v relay coil.
One goes to the key switch and the other to the negative. The two larger tabs (1/4") are the Normally Open contacts. They are just like a switch so wire them in series with your 48v->12v converter power. |

Re: Relay Wiring
Sergio,
I’m lost on how to wire from key switch to relay to reducer. My setup, I want to wire a relay to the key switch, then from the relay to my reducer to power it on. I am reducing 36v to 12v and it only has 4 wires on the reducer. I am then going to run a fuse box off of the the reducer. I will have rocker switches between my fuse box and accessories I don’t want constant power running to my reducer. I want my key switch to kill my whole cart. Minus the memory on the radio. I have searched tirelessly for videos or diagrams. I can’t find any. I know I’m not the first person to run this setup. |

Re: Relay Wiring
If You want the reducer completely OFF then You cannot have "memory power" for the radio.
This is how you wire the relay (use a 36v relay in your case): To add the "memory power" to a 4 wire converter without a dedicated "constant power" output means the converter stays ON all the time and the relay connected to the key switch only disconnects the accessories on "switched power". |
