Re: Precedent gear oil change
I worked for a company-that also had a PMP program. They had a huge fleet of road tractors. In the late 70’s we were using regular gear oil 80/90. We would pull all wheels and check bearings every 100.000 miles. They would always need one or two so we replaced all at that time. Fast forward to the 80’s. Change to 80/90 synthetic oil. We were able to run up to at least 500.000 miles before showing any wear. I know this is nothing like what a golf cart would go through. From my experience as a mechanic the synthetic oil would be the best choice.

Re: Precedent gear oil change
I have a question
I had to fix the drain plug threads on the casing and since I had the axel off the cart I filled the axel standing up since it was way easier by myself. I installed the axel back and after a few months I just realized today I put 30 oz ( I spilled a little from the 32. oz) versus the recommended 22 oz is that a major issue ? It took all the fluid so I didn't even realize what I was doing at the time but it just hit me now |
