If you plan to replace a blown 50A fuse with an 80A fuse, keep a fire extinguisher handy! Good luck sparky!

The idea of a fuse is to be the weakest point in a circuit so that if there is a fault (like a short circuit) the weakest point (the fuse) will blow before the wire melts or starts a fire or other nasties. The size of the fuse is worked out by the designer of the circuit by working out what is the highest amperage that should be allowed so that the nasties don't occur. In this case the designer has worked out that the circuit should not carry more than 50 amps so that is the size of the fuse.

Fuses come in standard physical sizes and this means that it is physically possible to fit a fuse of the wrong amperage, so your 80 amp fuse will fit where the 50 amp fuse had been BUT it should not be fitted because it will allow a greater amperage to flow in the circuit and this may cause melting, fires or whatever.

So the simple answer to your question is that while the 80 amp fuse may physically fit it should NOT be used.

Sometimes fuses blow because they just get old so you should replace the 50 amp fuse with another 50 amp fuse. If it immediately blows again it indicates that you have a problem causing a short cirsuit and this problem must be found and rectified.

I hope that helps because that's what we're here for, to help others where possible not to just give smart aleck answers.
