2002 DS Not Charging
Hey everyone
I am the recent owner of a 2002 DS. It was charging 2 weeks ago when we got it. I began adding on street legal items to be able to drive it around my town (seat belts, MadJax light kit, voltage reducer 48/12, ect). After all of that, the car won't charge. When I plug in the charger, the charger clicks and then nothing happens. There is a black button on the front of the charger that pops out, if i push it back in the charger starts humming again and then pops. Initially I traced an issue back to one of the batteries was dead. All the batteries were reading about 8.4V and one was reading 2.4v. So it was under warranty and got it swapped out. But it is still not charging. I reset the OBC (disconnected the negative battery cable for about 15 minutes). After reconnecting the negative terminal, turning the car on the battery light lit up (indicating it was reset). I plugged the charger back and in and still not charging. I then found a post talking about voltage readings from the charger receptacle to the batteries. These are my readings: Total pack voltage: 49.5 V Charge Socket Positive to Pack Negative: 49.5 V Positive Socket to Sense Socket: 48.8 V Pack Positive to Socket Negative: 36.7 V While low (owing to the fact that its not charging) I believe all these values to be acceptable. So my thought is that the OBC is failed. Is this correct? Sorry for the long post and no TLDR. |

Take a look here https://www.revolutiongolfcars.com/t...roubleshooting
Could be a bad breaker (black button that is popping out) as they get weak, or a short on the wires going to ground. |

Re: 2002 DS Not Charging
So I checked the charger as described in the link you provided and everything looks good. Got a reading of about 48 volts which is where the battery pack is currently at.
I assume that this means that the OBC is good. I have the PowerDrive 22110 model charger and it looks like it’s seen better days. Should the charger be replaced? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: 2002 DS Not Charging
I would order a new breaker after opening up the charger (remove the cover) and inspecting the wires and connections to ensure no damage. It is more than likely a weak breaker.
Another thing you can do is borrow a friends charger. Any Powerdrive will work on your cart. If it works fine, you will have isolated the problem. |

Re: 2002 DS Not Charging
So it ended up being the charger. I opened it up and it all looked a little old and I decided to get a new charger and bypass the OBC. That seems to have fixed the charging issue.
We are all up and running and it seems faster than before too now with a good full charge. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
