Re: Almost free 12v-8v Precedent conversion
That is good to hear, I just got a 2005 and it does the same thing go great one time then seem like its running out of power the next ride. I ordered the digital volt meter so I will know for sure now. It's good to know I can upgrade to 6 8v batteries and the only thing I will have to.add is battery clamps. Will I have to change how the radio connects to the batteries? I also have a battery tender I keep it on when not in use because my charger shuts off when done charging, will that still work also? Thanks again for the.help

Re: Almost free 12v-8v Precedent conversion
BTW....I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer I'll answer what I can.
If your radio is wired directly off one battery (look for 2 small wires coming off one battery that goes to your radio), you will need to install a 48v-12v reducer...there is no 12v available in the 8v configuration.....there are plenty of threads with various suggestions I use a separate battery that I have to power my Samsung smart phone for the GPS feature on course. It is a battery that we use when camping for charging phones a running lights in the tent etc. it has a digital volt meter and cigar lighter outlets and is fairly portable....I charge it by solar....it fits in the cart dash quite well. I am not familiar with a Battery Tender...the std. ClubCar PowerDrive charger is all I use....even when we go away for months at a time....I think it 'checks' on the State Of Charge (soc) every 13-15 days and charges automatically if necessary....again plenty of threads in here to read up on! Hope this helps. Last edited by driver33b; 04-16-2012 at 07:29 PM.. Reason: Pic. failure |

Re: Almost free 12v-8v Precedent conversion
I just converted a cart of mine and referenced this write up so much I felt it was only fair to share the results. Great write up. All I did was fit the batteries, nothing else was swapped out.

Re: Almost free 12v-8v Precedent conversion
I did this on my '04 back in February, by far the best mod I've done!

I know what you mean. They upload so big that is almost makes them useless. Here are the same picture but at a smaller resolution. Hopefully you can see them better I still have some tidying up to do but I did this in a matter of two hours (with dinner in between). All I can say is a sonic tool or oscillating tool is a MUST for this mod Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
