Good call guys! Yes, only do this test with the motor attached to the differential - the armature will bang around and trash the motor if you run it on a bench since there is only a bearing on one end.

Ok I think I have a bad motor . Tell me this after I tested motor on cart . I took it off and disassembled it again to see if anything had come loose or what and I took end plate off removed brushes removed armature so now I'm looking down at case of motor . Should I have continuity on post A1and A2 with if not does that mean the windings are broke somewhere ?

If motor is bad would this be kicking solenoid out to protect system ?

I know this is an old thread but I would like to know the answer to the above post. I think this is what is wrong with mine. My solenoid closes and immediately opens back up. The kart never tries to move.

To test run a SERIES motor

Remove all cables from the motor; connect a jumper from A1 to S1. Connect 12 to 24 volts, positive @ A2 and negative @ S2. Swap S1 and S2 to change rotation direction.

To test run a Sep-Ex (regen) motor

Remove all cables from the motor; connect a jumper from A1 to F1 and a jumper from A2 to F2. Connect 12 to 24 volts, positive @ A1/F1 and negative @ A2/F2. Swap F1 and F2 to change rotation direction.

CAUTION:
Allowing a motor to spin @ high RPM can cause catastrophic failure!
How can I tell what motor it is?

Thread is 6 years old but.. typical giveaways are the sepex motor should have a speed sensor unless it’s on a DCS ezgo. They also have smaller posts on the inner connections. Outer ones are on the case and those should be 5/16”. What cart is this?
