Start with cleaning the battery terminals really good.

Then you can check pedal switch, solenoid, and MOST LIKELY brushes in starter/generator.

I have another problem now.

This is a G16 cart, I never even thought to get the year of it. But the parking brake jumps back up. The teeth on the catch look fine, but all it takes is a bump on the floorboard to get the parking brake to jump back up. The 2nd click is the only one that will hold OK. The first one doesn't hold the cart, but stays in place. And the 3rd one just won't stay down. I adjusted the brake cables under the floorboard tighter and looser, and I just can't find this thing out.

Usually this will happen if the brakes are adjusted too tight. The brake pedal should go almost to the floor. Mine locks at about an inch from the floor if I remember correctly.

I will have to take another look at them, I adjusted them where the second click would hold, just so the people would have SOMETHING holding their cart.

These Yamahas are driving me out of my mind.

I have been working on a 2000 G16 for a few weeks. The thing starts extremely hard, if it starts at all. I set the valves to .006 yesterday to give it a little more room in there, and it didn't help at all. I also cleaned the carburetor to spotless, and it STILL won't start. Does anyone have any suggestions? ...because I'm out.

Anyone? I'm leaving in about 45 minutes to work on this thing.

Maybe I should put some sand in the oil of all the Yamaha carts down there so I won't have to work so much. I'll cut all those people a GREAT deal on a 2007 Precedent.

Pull the fuel pump, take it apart, and clean it out.

I think I got it now.

James, I pulled the fuel line off and it's pumping fine.

Since these carts see absolutely no maintenance, I thought it would be a safe bet to pull the carburetor and tear it completely down, clean it spotless, and put it back. I also readjusted the valves .005. Since I had everything nice and clean, I figured a new air filter, pre-filter, and fuel filter wouldn't hurt anything.

After the battery was charged, it started GREAT. Almost without even using the choke.
