2012 club car DS ran fine had a noisy bearing in the starter generator so I got a new one put it on and when I went to start it there was a spark from the ground strap at the frame. so realizing there was a problem with the starter I replaced it now I have no spark could the short in the starter generator fried my coil is there any way to test it without tearing it down. thanks in advance for any help.

Re: no spark
I would start by looking at the white/black wire that runs up the clutch side of the engine. That wire grounds the ignition coil to shut off spark when the ignition key switch gets turned "off". It would be easy to pinch that wire and cause an accidental ground when taking the starter generator out and back in.

Re: no spark
Have you tried removing the ground on the rev limiter?
(To me... that would be the most sensitive item to fry!) |

Re: no spark
The ignitor is built into the coil!
The rev limiter is on the lower front of the engine just above the drain plug, (#22) remove, and tape up the wire going to the left mounting bolt of the limiter. (at #13) |
