Will stock 48v work good on major hills?
I am going to buy a lifted 48v Yamaha, in a few weeks. I am completely new to electric golf cart ownership. We are planning to buy from a custom golf cart shop near Branson Mo. I was told I might want to upgrade (controller?) from the standard 200-225 used on golf courses to 300 or 400 due to lifted cart and major hills to climb. Any advice or suggested threads/websites to read would be appreciated.

That application should have a 400a controller at minimum. Stock controller is gonna be dreadful on major hills.

Here is some very good upgrade information from one of our site sponsors.
Besides a larger controller, there may be other components which should also be upgraded at the same time. Read about it here: https://www.cartsunlimited.net/upgrade-suggestions.html |

Re: Will stock 48v work good on major hills?
While my experience is with a Club Car I will say that in our hood there are major inclines to some of our streets and I flat out could not climb them until I put in a bigger controller. Fresh batteries and 2 gauge cables helped but didn't do it, a HP motor helped but still didn't do it. But a 500 amp controller did the trick...

Be careful with any upgrades. Lifts, bigger tires, etc. can destroy the crappy Hitachi stock motor.

Can Don Plowman at Plowman's Carts. He's a site sponsor and get his Riot Kit. You'll need it for those hills
