Re: New batteries quick discharge
So the battery shop recommended the pack be shifted around so the batts that weren't fully charging would be in a different location within the pack. Did this, and no change. Now he says it may be that the charger(S) we are using are too old to charge the new blackbox Trojans. I'm not buying this, as one of the chargers is mine and tops off my batts just fine. Thoughts?

Re: New batteries quick discharge
When you say black box Trojans, do you mean the cheap knockoff Trojans? If so that could be your problem. There is one Trojan battery, it is in a maroon case. Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

Re: New batteries quick discharge
I have never understood this either. Never seen a black Trojan battery around here.

Re: New batteries quick discharge
I think he is talking about Powertron batteries, which are black and made by Trojan.

Re: New batteries quick discharge
Does that make my rusty '77 Monte Carlo the same as a new Corvette? They are both made by Chevrolet.

Re: New batteries quick discharge
51v is a full charge!!!! Actually 49.9v is 100%. I have a smart charger for mine and it usually reads 51-52v while plugged up and in maintenance mode. but unplugged it falls to 50.9-51v

Re: New batteries quick discharge
49.9 is less than 80% charged. 51 would be a good reading after resting 12 hours. Charger should put out over 60 volts near end of charge.

Re: New batteries quick discharge
My bad..I meant 50.9v is a full charge.. I think different chargers will perform differently. My Accusense Smart Charger never gets anywhere close to 60v while charging. I have seen 54.5v at its highest. And once it gets closer to being fully charged it backs way off on voltage. this morning it is maintaining at 51.1v
