2013 G29 battery weight limit question
hello
I was wondering if someone can help me with the weight limitation for the battery bank. I have a 2013 YDRE with the 8 volt battery pack and it says max battery weight 171kg (377lbs). the (6) 8 volt batteries that came from the factory weighs 366lbs and have a capacity of 7200kwh. I wanted to run = 8= 6 volt batteries instead with a capacity of 10,080kwh, but, the = 8 = 6 volt batteries weigh 464 lbs. do you think i will be ok with the extra 100lbs of battery weight over the sticker recommended maximum battery weight of 377 lbs? is the weight limitation a suspension limitation or is that a battery box limitation thanks in advance for any input |

Re: 2013 G29 battery weight limit question
Just my opinion, I have the 8 volt system as well and the battery box seems to be set up for 6 volts too. If the suspension couldn’t handle it they would have accessory limits and passenger limits and whatnot. With 8 6volts your putting a bigger footprint on the battery tray so I feel the 100lbs more isn’t an issue.

Re: 2013 G29 battery weight limit question
I think the "max battery weight 171kg" is just information on the most you could expect the set of batteries the factory installed might weigh. Difference in water levels could account for the slight variance you see in the actual weight of your pack now, IF they are truly the original set - 7 years later. Different manufacturers put different amounts of lead in their batteries, so even similar seeming sets can have somewhat different weights. As others have mentioned, we all routinely go over the max recommended weights with rear seats, cargo beds, extra passengers etc. Keep in mind it started life as a GOLF CART. It was intended to carry 2 people and a few golf clubs. Anything beyond that is part of making the cart what YOU want it to be. Carrying extra people & stuff or extending your range. If you're concerned about it you can install heavy duty springs & shocks to handle the extra weight.

Re: 2013 G29 battery weight limit question
Since yamaha offers YDRE with 8x 6v battery pack, I'd say you'll be fine.

if your worried about it you could always add extra support to the battery tray

Re: 2013 G29 battery weight limit question
thanks for all the replies.
probably going to go with the ( 6V batteries for more capacity and range! hopefully the extra 100lb will not break my battery tray. I know the 2007-2009 YDRE came with (4) 12V batteries the 2009-2016 model came with the (6) 8V batteries not sure what models came with the ( 6V batteries. the tray for the 2009-2016 model can accomodate ( batteries but the tray for the 2007-2009 can only accomodate the (4) 12V batteries BTW interstate golf cart batteries are as follows: (4) 12V weighs 340LB (150ah x 48v = 7200 KwH) (6) 8V weighs 366LBS (160ah x 48v = 7680KwH) ( 6V weighs 464 LBS (210ah x 48v = 10,080KwH) extra 100lbs but a lot more Kw to use. did anyone else do this conversion? thanks again |

Heres a 750kwh unit, it's a 33.9 liter v-12 diesel. It can run a whole block of houses by itself.

Heres a 10,000kwh generator, it might not fit under a golf cart seat.
