2001 CC DS Acceleration Question

My friend has a 2001 DS that he said accelerates fine off the start but once you drive it for a little bit it starts to get sluggish like it can't pull itself. Any idea what it could be?

He figured it out. There was some stuff in the air cleaner box that was restricting air flow.
