Question ???? rebuild or replace flathead engine ????

1991 cc - this cart will be used at lake..there are hills there. the engine runs but compression is low (90) Is the flathead worth doing a topend rebuild or put a newer motor in it. Looking something that will last a long time with little to no problems, any thoughts...thanks.

If you can find someone to rebuild it, then do that. Dropping a new style engine in there may cost as much as buying a newer used gas cart...

I redid one like that last summer. We rebored it .050 over & shaved the head for a little more punch.... it ran good and pulled the hills just fine.

scotty most peole are in the replace mode rather then the can it or how much to think. we live in a relpceable qorld now. so yank that baby out, drop in a bb, you get to go faster, have more power, and you look cooler doing it! see what i mean! but here are still people that relize , wait these are golf carts, they were made to make golfing easier. or maintance work easier. or walking with a bed full of pooo esy on the farm. other wise you would be humping it with your 2 feet!
