Default '07 Gas Precedent sputters at low speeds

I just bought a 2007 Club Car Precedent (gas powered) but it will only run smooth if I run it wide open. If i try going slow it sputters, shakes, and jerks. Is this because the first owner did something to the governor? I am brand new to golf carts, and would appreciate any help. Because of my small kids, I'd rather this run slower and smooth than fast and bumpy. Of course, once they are older, I'll want just the opposite. I can lift up the seat and take some digital pictures if that would help. Thanks in advance everyone!

WAIT!!! Don't do any governor adjusting just yet!
(I was in a bit of a hurry yesterday, and didn't really read your initial post!)

The top speed for factory adjusted CC's are around 12 to 13 mph,
if it runs about that, you shouldn't need to readjust your governor!

I just looked at the last pic of your carb... It's REALLY dirty! (no offense!)
and, I could only imagine what your air filter looks like!

First things first,
Check/clean or replace your air filter right away,
and make sure that air box cover is clipped on tight,
(you have classic symptoms of a loose air box cover)
If it isn't on tight, you may need to unbolt the whole air box to to get the cover on properly!
Take it for a test drive and see if the performance has improved!

THEN... hose/pressure wash your engine compartment down,
And, try to get as much of the dirt off of the carb as possible!

Come back and let us know if any of that helped!

I agree, Its not a governor problem it is a carb issue. Carburators, rarely go bad, but giving your a good cleaning out will more than likely fix you right up.

I'm as green and clueless as they come, so I want to be sure, is there any part of this golf cart I shouldn't get wet? Is it fine to lift up the seat and hose everything, even around the battery? Or just hose off from the back? Just want to make sure. Thanks again for the suggestions everyone!!

You need to remove the carb, take it apart and clean it out. Not the outside, the inside of the carb. You need to check float level. If you are unsure of this process, you may want someone with more experience to do this.

The microwitches on the back of the forward /reverse lever are what you may want to cover up,
or stay away from them with too much water pressure!

And, make sure your air box is sealed, then... wash away!

Hi guys! I had a mechanic remove and clean out the carb, but its still having the same issues. Should I try putting in a new air/gas filter? Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance!!!
