Default g1 carb boot

I just got a new carb boot for my g1 and it has a small tube at the top open to the air. What does this connect to the old boot is closed

Default Re: g1 carb boot

Some engines had a small box-shaped compartment attached to the intake boot. It was used like a surge chamber to smooth out the intake air flow. If your engine did not have it, just block it off.
