I start to see minor issues at the 1500 hour mark. BUT, if you dont touch the governor and do proper service on it, I have seen 4000 hours with no problems with the motor.

Can you take a pic of it? Im guessing your cart is a 96 by ur user name. It should be the fe290. With that year cart you can put a bigger motor with more power as pre 96 has the correct rotation for a correct engine swap. Look real cloase as the tag may be there but in a different location on the engine.
