Angry All idle,no go.

bought this 87 G2 bout 3 months ago. and changed the silodoid and it ran preety decent untill i bypassed the gov. now all it does is idle. wont hardly move in gear.i have takin the carb off and cleaned it.air box dont seal properly but it was running before.is there any way to check valves w/o a feeler gauge? thought that might b it.i have searched these fourms for a couple hrs now.its gettin fuel and spark.also i was wondering what size neddle jet to get from my local dealer, in order to get rid of airbox and jus go with a open air setup. thanks a lot for the help fellas. Aaron

also, i saw on here one time bout the engine might not be "ideling" when it sounds like it is but dont know where i seen it? Thanks again, Aaron

Check the cable from the pedal to the governor,it is possible it broke after tightening.

Yeah is the carb opening with the pedal? Another thing is the plug can foul from bad mixture if the airbox is not right. Put the new G16 size plug in it they last longer.

This sounds like a bad spark plug to me. Sounds more like the starter is turning over the engine but not firing and actually running the engine. Is the engine running or just the starter turning it over when you hit the pedal?

Jack the back of the cart up for safety, put in neutral, and lift the seat and see if the engine actually fires and run or if the starter/generator is the only thing running and just turning over the engine. Some starter/generators will produce enough power to even move the cart a bit while turning over the engine.

i totaly dismissed the cleaning the carb thing because i did it when i first got the cart. today i went and got a stock plug and no change, so i took the carb off again to c how it looked and the bowl had gunk in it. I guess it picked it up after i got it runnin the first time.thenafter a couple chokes to fill the bowl, shes back to runnin at 20 mph again. Thanks for y'alls input on this. Aaron
