Question Yamaha G1 gear box ratio question

What is the gear ratio on a Yamaha G1 gearbox? I tried to figure it out, the input shaft made 8 revolutions to one axel revolution,so is it a 8x1? or what im going to use 20 inch tires on the stock 8 inch rims, Im triying to figure ow fast it will go and what size pulleys/sprockets to try out.

hey i would highly recomend NOT to put bigger tires on if ur planning on driving on any inclines because that will lower ur torque if ur planning on alwase going on flat or down hill surfaces then go ahead and also if you get a higher gear ratio that will lower torque but the ratios are 8:1

Pulley's and sprockets? The G1 should have a primary clutch (drive) and a secondary clutch (driven) and should not have any sprockets that you can change. I suppose it's possible to change the clutches, but good luck with that. If you are looking for any more than 30 mph, then you'll need major work and possibly an engine change.

The stock G1 two stroke will easily go 25-28 mph without any modifications other than removing the governor. The 20" tires should be ok, but 22" or larger and you'll need an upgraded secondary clutch to make up for the lost torque.
