Default 92 Club Car Starting

I have a 92 Club Car, it was running great today and then it would not go forward or back. No noise from engine either. I tapped the solenoid and I can get a click from it but the cart won't go, sometimes it will hum for a bit but then stop. I am planning on getting a new solenoid tom. but want to get your input on the fact that I am doing the right thing. Thanks for your help.

Check to see if the brushes in your starter/gen are bad. Turn the clutch
about a half turn by hand and see if it starts. Also, make sure your
battery is OK..

Thanks for your help. I was told today not to get the solenoid as it did not sound like that might be the problem. Like you said, I was told to check the battery, which I have on charge now but looking at it I think I will get a new one this afternoon anyway. Excuse my ignorance but where will I locate the "brushes" and how will I know if they are bad.

Thanks again

Starter/Gen brushes are under the little black rubber plugs on one end
of the starter. There is a spring that holds each one down to the
armature. When these wear too much, one won't make contact, therefore
rotate your clutch by hand a half turn and most of the time it will start.
Remember this if you are ever out on the back side of nowhere , and the
starter won't turn. That humming of the solenoid is crying "Battery" to me.

thanks for the advice. I got the new battery and so far, so good. I may try to attempt to check the brushes but as they say don't try and fix something that is not broken. Thanks again
