What size battery for Marathon
I just picked up a 88 Marathon gas a couple of weeks back, that had a bad driven clutch and no battery. I swapped the clutch off of our 87 and fired it up on a set of jumper cables. Whats the best size battery for one of these carts-i want something that won't go out in a year and can handle cold weather cause the cart will be run in the snow.

Re: What size battery for Marathon
I have a 85 Marathon I used a deep cycle battery size24 from wal-mart $60.00 ish, I also installed a 1.5 amp trickle charger from harbor freight $13.00 ish so I can keep the battery charged over the winter in Tennessee.
also it will keep the battery warm... so it wont freeze... hope this helps you... |

I ended up stopping to a place near work that sells batteries to check out their prices and they had a factory refurbish battery for $37 so i pick it up.

Re: What size battery for Marathon
The only 6-volt in a cart would be on an electric one(36/48volt),All the carts run 12volt with gas-engines.The deep-cycle is the way to go.Use as big a battery as you can fit and/or afford.Check with Interstate-Batteries.They have a Power-Volt which is a cheaper branded Interstate and they actually have more CCA and reserve! Also they sell blems and refurbs for under $40.Hope this helps.

Re: What size battery for Marathon
The one I got was refurb'd by Eagle mfg, I guess that they get most of their stock from interstate. The one that I picked up is the biggest that would fit in stock location.
