Default 96 not wanting to rev out

i got a 96 and it doesnt seem to want to rev out very high. i tried to mess with governor around yard and it didnt even seem to want to help any. what would cause this? if i got it in a mud hole i would be afraid that it wouldnt even want to fight to get out. compression is 135 to 150 new carb coil rev limitor wire cut. the cables seem to be working fine.....any ideas just scratching my head runs to good to be something wrong with it. it is lifted with jakes lift and the other day i had a top speed of 8 mph with it something serious wrong the brakes seemed to be tieing up i loosened them way up

I had the same problem with my 95. My throttle linkage was adjusted down so it was barely working the carb. I adjusted mine up to the point it wouldnt stop running and had to back it down some but I doubled my top speed! Hope this helps

i thought it was a belt put a new one on but that did go through my head. it takes off the belt doesnt go all the way up the clutch like maybe half way.......so now what and the linkages it seems to go wide open i drove it around no seat just to verify......maybe it just needs to find a new home lol

when the clutch closes it should take the belt just about to the top so if its only going half way it just be a clutch issue..................................
