Ok lockman, i brought the engine back to 9 1/2 on center. Belt still goes 3/4 up drive clutch. Where do we go from here? I'm with the cart now. I can tweak as we go

I just saw your other post... http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-c...h-problem.html

Yep... it may be a worn out drive clutch! (sorry to say!)

I was hoping you were online earlier while i was working with the cart. Did what you said. Was looking at the drive clutch when i noticed the grooves. It is pretty thin toward the top. Worn out clutch makes a big difference yes. Does that explain the problems i'm having? I hope a new 1 fixes that thanks for your help i'll let you know how it goes. By the way, putting the 9 1/2 center back did help

The groves in the drive clutch pretty much means that the previous owner (or golf coarse)
didn't see, or hear the signs of worn out buttons or the thrust washer!

You could probably still rebuild it inside, But, if the sheaves are worn that much,
they'll eventually wear though to the point of holes in the sheaves.

I was hoping that it would have been something a bit easier, and less expensive!

it's your call... rebuild it for about $125.00 (weights, buttons, spring, and washer)
and have holes eventually wear through, or buy a new, or decent used one. (cost ??? I don't know)

I wish I could help more!

I also noticed the clutch didn't pull all the way back in a couple of times once i loosened the belt. I think it popped back before because of the tension on the belt. Also it is clanging on start up. New clutch sounds like the right fix to me. Will order it tomorrow. Hope i have it by the weekend. I will celebrate by climbing my 1st hill without 2 people pushing me. ha ha
