Glueing polyfoam seat cushion to plywood
I did search for this particular question and there were some posts but foam on wood wasn't discussed as much thus my post/question.
I have a 1994 gas cc and the plywood bottom of the front seat is all but gone. First does anyone know if the original is 1/2" or 5/8" or 3/4" plywood and more importantly what would be the best product to glue the cushion onto the plywood??? Thanks in advance |

Re: Glueing polyfoam seat cushion to plywood
I believe the orig was 1/2 or 5/8ths depending upon the yr and model cart. I would go 5/8ths - the # of ply matters more than the thickness, more is better, and as far as glue for the foam, I used a spray adhesive, you only need it to hold long enough to fasten the vinyl cover.

We use 3/4 pressure treated and 3m spray adhesive. Also make sure to drill a couple large holes in the wood to help moisture escape.

Moisture and air. No holes turns the cushion into a trampoline
My buddy had recovered his with some comment about don't need no stinkin holes... Had his wife's shitzu sitting on the cushion and he jumped in.. shot the dog out the other side He now has holes in the seat bottom |

Nope, happened too fast and the issue was resolved rather quickly.. Was funny though.. Looked like one of those kids on a swim log after two others jump on. Reminds me of the old waterbed...

Re: Glueing polyfoam seat cushion to plywood
i had 1/2 on my 99. i used 3/4 exterior grade plywood. painted all surfaces on it, and drilled the 4 fart holes in the bottom. i found my seat was not glued down from the factory. i would use a good 3m contact spray as suggested earlier. but its not needed, or in my situation it wasnt. i also cut my board a little bigger then the original and fitted and tweaked it on the cart before attaching it to the vynyl and foam.
