Default G1 Oil Mix 150:1 to 300:1?

I've been energized to do a search on oil mixing ratios for the G1 cart. I have found 3 different sites from 3 different time periods say that the stock oil injection pump mixes at ratios from 150:1 to 300:1 depending upon rpm etc.

Is this true? Can anyone confirm with real Yamaha data?

How about any data?

Here's the threads I've found on it....

http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-y...mix-ratio.html

http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-y...mix-ratio.html

http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-y...1-oil-mix.html

http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-y...ers-ratio.html

http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-y...o-150-1-a.html

Some guys say 50:1, one says 32:1, a couple say 80:1, a couple say 100:1.

One guy says that the manual says the mixing ratio is 150:1? Wow.

Anyone?

Yamaha service manual says "Mix ratio"-"150:1 at Max power". Hope that helped.

Figured I'd update this for reference.

I started with a premix of 50:1, mostly because someone else recommended it, and I didn't know any better. Very smoky. Oil would drip out the tailpipe when it would sit overnight.

Then I went to 75:1, it was better but still smoky. Then to 85:1 and it did great, but had just a hair bit of smoke. I switched to 100:1 and it was perfect.

After about a year of operation I removed the engine and disassembled it for inspection. There was very little wear showing on the cylinder walls, mostly at the bottom, you could still see the cross hatching from honing. Also the rings looked really good, no cracks, no uneven wear.

I would estimate about 300-400 hours of operation at this point. I had used my cart for pulling trailers with firewood, mulch, dirt. I hauled stone in the bed. I did some trail riding a few times per year, and I did top speed runs weekly near my home. I even plowed my driveway and my neighbors driveway with it. Needless to say I was not easy on the cart, I rode it fairly hard.

The brand of oil I used was Echo air cooled 2 cycle oil from Home Depot. Very good stuff. I actually tried some other brands and came back to the Echo because it was cheaper in the large bottles and had less smoke.

After the engine was reassembled I installed it into another cart that I then sold. It always started right up and ran smooth!

I have heard that the Yamalube is good stuff, but it's very expensive. I haven't used it for that reason.
