Rear-Axle differences/years
Hey Guys,My Dad just picked up a couple DS gassers.Were making 1 out of 2.He wants to put a V-Twin in.I know about the reverse-rotation,his has it(clutch on Rh-side).What years did they have standard-rotation,what years are reversed?Are there different gear-ratios in older/newer reversed-rotation units(I know some are 12:1 forward,17:1 reverse).Is there a way to swap the gearing internally,or is it stepped down thru the reversing-setup?Thanks!

I wanted to update,The cart is a 91' from what Dad told me.He wants to convert the Villager-8 Electric that he just got over to gas,with a Briggs-Twin.I'm going over to the shop Thurs.to see what I have to work with.We have to pick up 3 carts on Sat.one is the DS Donor-Cart.

96 an up was clockwise rotation, with OHV engine
92-96 was counterclockwise rotation, with the OHV engine Pre 92 was counterclockwise rotation (same rear as 92-96), with the old flathead (side valve) engine. Parts are not interchangeable between CCW and CW rears, they are altogether different. |

The rear end from the counterclockwise motor is the one you're going to want to use.

We are going tomorrow to get the 91' Donor-Cart.Then Dad is gonna start on a cradle/mount setup.Hes' got the body off,gota swap the rear and lift it while we are at it.
