G1 Starter Pulley
I purchased a new starter/generator for my '84 G1. The pulley on the new starter is considerably smaller than the original. Other than needing a smaller belt are there any negatives to using the smaller pulley? Seems like for the generator purpose it would be an advantage. But maybe starting power is compormised?
Any help or knowledge you can share would be appreciated. Thanks! |

Re: G1 Starter Pulley
Also, greatly increases the likelyhood of over-revving the starter/generator at max cruising speed. Can the belt tensioner even tighten enough to put proper tension on the belt. It is probably possible to transfer the pulley off the old starter/gen, and i would try to do that.

Re: G1 Starter Pulley
Old pulley has an approx. 4 in diameter. The new one is about 2.5 in.
I put a 33 in belt on and I can get it fairly tight. |
