Default please help me diagnosis starter generator on easy go 88

so I finally got my golf cart going running strong I'm lovin it. before we start driving around a lot the battery was fully charged 100 percent. later on after driving it a lot I noticed that the starter would not turn over and the fuel pump wouldn't run either and I even noticed that the headlights were very dim. so I threw it on charge and my charger told me that there is only 8 percent of the battery left and I was at nine volts. other words my battery was just dead. I sue my starter generator is not working how can this be fixed without buying a new starter or can it be rebuilt cheaply.

I just replaced the brushes on my Yamaha starter/ gen. bearings were good and I cleaned up the armature myself. They cost 30.00 local. Mine would charge just wouldn't start all the time. Don' know about the ez-go.

I would check the brushes as lurch said. After 1000 rpm's the starter turns into a generator and if the brushes are wore it won't charge the battery. You can clean the armature with some red scotchbrite.

Had kind of the same issues, had my start/gen rebuilt, found out I had a bad voltage regulator.

so I learned that my VR is good and that the problem is in the generator.
so I took it apart and found that a wire was broken where the green wire goes in to the terminal

A story with a happy ending, nice. Glad the diagnosis of the regulator worked out.

yes, thanks to your old posts I was able to figure out how to test to see what part had issues and what to look at on the part to see why it was not working.

the lead broke on the inside the can
