Default charge receptacle question for 2015 RXV

So I was using a delta quiq charger a few months ago and it wouldnt charge because of the thermoresistor wire had a bad ring terminal connection so I figured out I had to buy a new charge receptacle but instead I decided to upgrade to a lester summit charger because I wanted one anyway. So the gray wire with thermoresistor came off.

Does this wire serve a purpose at all when the lester charger is plugged in?

I ask this because the main battery terminal has some expansion and really the positive terminal needs repair not long after the wire was off. maybe its coincidental or is it?
