Default G2 transaxle swap in G1

Hey guys I was curious if anyone had any pictures or info on a g2 transaxle swap into a G1. I’ve seen some threads on here saying that a G2 will swap into a G1 frame with the mounting holes being slightly misaligned with only some drilling to fix the problem. Well I bought a G2 axle and that was not the case hahah. The mounts are very different and do not line up in the slightest. So basically I bought a G1 with a kohler engine swap for cheap but the previous owner attempted to make a live axle out of the G1 unsuccessfully so I am unable to use the G1 axles and tubes. I tore out all the hardware they had and bought a complete G2 axle but looking for ideas or tips on how to do the swap!

Do you have any photos of your G2 transaxle and the G1 swingarm?

Another member Field 6565 did it with minimal fab. He drilled new holes and bolted the G2 transaxle to the G1 swingarm. He did weld new tabs for the front mounts as seen in the photos.

Shock location will also be different, will need to relocate those. Some fab work, but not major.

Hope you can weld....

Here's what I did with mine. Again, used a G2 swingarm and lengthened it. I had to trim the front of the swingarm where it pivots to fit the G1 frame. Still in the cart today and working well.

I've also recently put a G2/G9 transaxle in a G16 cart. Yeah, made it fit with minimal fab. So it can be done. You just have to be willing to get the grinder and welder out.

The shocks mounted up but are at a different angle, and the transaxle is only held in with 2 out of the 4 bolts.....but it all held up and worked great a couple weekends ago on some pretty rough hilly trails in Southern Ohio. So, I can say it was a success.

Thank you so much for the info that’s exactly what I was looking for!! I’ve heard that some people have had to add spacers to the g2 axle in order for the secondary clutch to fit do you know anything about that?

Oh also! Do you have any pics or info on how to wire up a forward and reverse handle? I’ve seen you can get the cable online but curious how people fabed up a handle or lever

I don't know anything about any spacers. Although I do use spacers for the wheels on most of my builds.

The shifter? Are you wanting to build a shifter handle that comes out of the floor? If so, the thread you want to read is by TheNewGuy, his Geep cart build. Post #260 on page 26.

Use the search feature to find threads with details you are looking for, lots of good ones on here. You could read for weeks and months, so many good ones.
