Oil Dripping Out Onto LH Rear Wheel ST350?
Months ago, the rear wheel fell off my ST350 Workhorse because my mechanic failed to tighten the lug nuts. I should fire that guy, but my wife likes having him around.
I had to remove the hub and install new lugs. Everything seemed fine, but I left the cart sitting for a month or two afterward. The other day I changed the fuel pump and started the cart. It made a clacking sound back at the rear, like something was slipping, and then it caught, and it is now working. I found some oil under the cart, and it looks like it ran out of the axle or hub. What's going on? I got advice and put the hub back in as instructed, and I torqued it correctly. |

You need to identify where the oil is coming from. If it was a hub it would be on the wheels. The rear differential at the bottom would have a wet pan. Input shaft would have oil on the side. Motor same kinda thing. As for the clacking the shifter cable may need adjustment.

Re: Oil Dripping Out Onto LH Rear Wheel ST350?
Old posts indicate this is differential oil. So that leaves me with questions:
1. Why did the cart make a clacking noise? 2. Why did it stop? 3. How is the oil getting out? 4. How do I fix it? |

1. Might have made this noise because the shift fork may not have been fully engaged between FnR. Once it dropped in it was good.
2. Same 3. Bad gasket or seal. 4. Replace the issue. |
