Default 89 par car, no response after trying to recharge battery

Hi, my old par car has been a bit sluggish to start lately so I thought I'd see if the battery would still take some charge from a plug in charger. I hooked it up for a couple of hours but when I tried to start, there was no response at all. It was working before. Is there a fuse that may have blown or have I damaged something more serious. (I'm no mechanic as you can gather) Thanks for any clues yu may have.

Have your battery load tested first. Start there.

Thanks Tcanthony
. I don't have the gear to test the battery, but will take it to be tested if need be.
But I did connect jumper leads to a running vehicle and still there was no response.
I would have thought that would be enough to override a faulty battery. ??

Not always. I bought a rider a few years ago and seller claimed it was locked up. I tried a jumper pack and it did indeed act locked up but I could spin it by hand. A fresh battery and it fired right up on old gas.

If it’s not the battery then you have key switch to check and the micro switch to test.

Thanks, It's going again. I was about to connect a car battery and noticed the negative finger-turn connections near the terminal wasn't as tight as it should be. Thats all it was, so I feel a bit foolish. Thanks for your help Tcanthony.
