So you all think that staying 36 volts have a greater rang than the 48 volt I am glac to hear that and really my wife is glad LESS money LOL

No one said this. In fact, if you add 2-6v cells to a 36v pack for a total of 48v your range will increase. What I said was that using 1-12v cell instead of 2-6v cells will decrease range.

I got what your saying....The 6 volt batteries are the key to this distance thing......LOL that is what I am going to do then

The key is this ... Electric motors burn Amps, not volts. So the larger GC batteries have more amperage storage capacity

No, to go faster you have to have one of several things.

1. more voltage
2. taller tires
3. lower ratio gear...

By adding batteries and staying at 36 volts you will only gain runtime.

By adding batteries to up the voltage you will gain speed. (and possibly some more runtime because higher voltages are more efficiant...to a point.)
