Got it thanks to you all I understand ....I have all ready increased the tires and I am looking for greater distance....so adding the batteries is the answer to the question ....I know I am new to this and this helps.

Birdman , my brother added 2 more 6 volt batterys to his cart and is useing a 24 volt charger that he picked up somewhere he has to take off 1 connector cable and charge 4 batteries at a time but has 3 to 4 days to run between charging . his controller heats up with the added current but he doesn't run it more than 3 to 5 min at a time .

Your brother is lucky.

Birdman, if you value that 36 volt controller at all you won't try adding 12 more volts to it.

I find this post truely amazing .....the 36v controller is not suposed to take 48v at all ........ we all know this .... so why are we suggesting it to any one?
Sell the 36v controller while it is stilll worth like $100 and get a new one rated for the voltage you want to run (48v) IMHO
