Default Pass key

I was reading on another thread about a pass key. I have a 2012 txt 48 with 2g cables and 22" tires (measured) My Christmas present for myself this year is going to be a new controller from scottyb an altrax 400amp. My question is will a speed pass key help me with the new controller or would I be wasting my money?. Also added rear seat with heavy duty springs.

Scottyb would be best to go into detail with you on this, but the Alltrax controllers are configurable without needing a passkey. You can use a PC or laptop to set your parameters. That alone would be a nice incentive to buy a new controller from scottyb.

The Passkey is something ezgo came up with I think to make money. The key is only used on a stock Curtis controller. Since you are getting an Alltrax, the passkey will not work. What's nice about Alltrax is that you program it yourself. If you want to tweek your Curtis, you have to use their $800+ hand held programmer. Alltrax, use your laptop.

Also, when I first had the passkey programming done on my old Curtis, I still had to have the dealer hook up their programmer to set the speed setting to its max of 19.5. The passkey defaulted to 19. Not much of a difference, but I wanted it to put out the max I could get. The funny thing is that the programmer will not allow you to set the Curtis to the max speed of 19.5 without first unlocking it with a passkey.
