Default 2001 CC DS MCOR or VGlide

Good morning all,
I have been asked to look at a friends friends car for some strange actions.

I won't get to see it until later this week, but in preparation I was doing some research. I have posted the Vin tag below, it is an early 2001 car with an AC prefix.

I think this is a Regen car with VGlide, from what I have read?

The problem as stated by the owner is when he lets off the Go pedal, it just coasts until he steps on the pedal again, which activates regain braking and drags the car speed down.

If he presses the go pedal while slowing nothing happens, but once the car is about at a stop, if he pumps the pedal a couple times it will take off an run fine again.

What I read said clean VGlide contacts, does this sound like the right solution? Or the right place to start looking?

Thank you,
Aflyer

With that serial number is a MultiStep potentiometer and no external DB solenoid.

I would just unplug the speed sensor and let the cart run as fast as it can.

Those old systems did not have a good Regenerative system anyway and used dynamic brake a lot.

Disconnecting the speed sensor on those models will prevent either kind of motor braking from activating.

Sergio,
Thank you very much, I will give that a try.

It will probably be Thursday before I get there, but I will update as soon as I have done it.

Sergio,
I finally got to look at this car today, and today it would not move at all.

Here are some facts:
Brand new 8 volt batteries
Pack voltage at 49.2
Charger won't charge, it is a power drive.
I tested the 3/8 amp charger fuse it was good on the meter.
I broke it putting it back in
The other fuse on the charging receptacle test good
I will change the fuse, and try the charger again tomorrow. The outlet does have power.

Some very strange symptoms to me, here they are:

When you press the go pedal, you can hear the throttle micro switch click there is no click from the solenoid but I don't know if that is correct or not.
The battery warning light has a very faint glow anytime the run/tow switch is on run.
The battery warning light comes bright when you press the go pedal in forward or reverse.
The reverse buzzer does not sound until the pedal is depressed. This is not just the first time, but every time.

Can you tell me where to start with diagnosis on the car?

Thank you,
Aflyer

The OBC actually provided power to the system in that old design.

I would by-pass the OBC for testing: disconnect the OBC 6-pin plug, get a large paper clip and jump the White and the Blue wires on the 6-pin connector on the harness side.

Sergio,
Thank you for responding.

Bypassing the OBC is to test the charger correct?
And I have a Power Drive 2, can I try that one to further test, the owners OBC & Charger?

Any ideas on where to start with diagnosing the running problems.

Thank you,
George

That is to test the running issue, the OBC powers the reverse buzzer and most of the system on that early Regen design.

Oh I am learning a whole lot of information on the strange innards of this car.

Thank you again, I will head back over to work on it in the morning, and let you all know how I do.

I forgot to mention earlier unplugging the Speed sensor made no difference that I could see.

Sergio,
Thanks very much again for your help with this car I volunteered to look at.
I will bypass the OBC and see if that will make it run.
I will also do some troubleshooting with the charger and see if I can prove that to be good or bad.

Is there a reason I shouldn't try my Power Drive 2 on it? Is it compatible with that car?

Also if I bypass the OBC and see no improvement in the running, what should be my next diagnostic check?

This fellow only lives about 20 minutes away, but I still want to get everything I can done tomorrow.

Thank you,
George

This is the diagram for that cart:
http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/attac...oid_wiring.jpg
The only difference is that model has a MultiStep Potentiometer instead of the MCOR:
http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/attac..._resistors.jpg
The Powerdrive, Powerdrive2 and Powerdrive3 chargers are compatible for testing purposes.

If the cart still does not work with the OBC blue wire by-passed, leave the by-pass in place for troubleshooting so You know the system is getting power.

I would start with the basics:
Pedal Micro-switch has power IN (Blue Wire) and power OUT (Green/White Wire).
Throttle wiper (Yellow wire) voltage varies from 0-5v approximately.
Solenoid has power on small terminals with pedal pressed.
