What's this knob for?
Hello all! I recently pulled the carb off my 08 TXT after some serious backfiring and poor performance. I found a lot of crud in the bowl and dirt throughout the carb.
Now that it's back on, my cart runs like a scalded dog...but there's still something not right. What I've noticed is that coasting down steep hills, my cart goes a lot faster and I'm afraid I'm going to detonate the engine. I've never gone this fast before down a hill when coasting. I've also noticed that the engine seems to run a tad longer when coming to a stop. I'm thinking all this has to do with some type of air adjustment and also think it has to do with a little black knob on top of the carburetor. This knob can rotate 180 degrees but what is it? Is it the air adjustment I think it is? Which way do I turn it? Thanks in advance! |

Re: What's this knob for?
I'm not sure on the black knob but as far your down hill speed that is a simple governor adjustment. First question is, did you put the governor linkage back on the carb just as it was when you removed it? If so, then you will need to take a look on top of the rear end. The governor linkage is on top and to adjust this I would use this sticky.
