Brakes over adjusting themselves and locking
I know what it’s doing, I just don’t know why. My 98 txt has some sort of automatic adjustment that as far as I can tell as the pads wear out and can push further into the drums that little spring loaded lever will engage the star thingy and twist them out further. My brakes are all new and what happens after less than a day is one side will auto adjust until the brakes are tight against the drum without being pressed. So I’m thinking maybe I just need to replace all that stuff in there, or maybe the drum is worn out larger than it should be and that adjustment thing is off because of it.
The short fix is just to adjust the brake manually and remove the spring to keep that arm from engaging that star. I have a navitas controller and set my engine brake fairly high so mechanical braking is actually very minimal. Hope that made sense! Thanks |

Re: Brakes over adjusting themselves and locking
Makes sense. I would remove the adjuster and do it manually when needed. (just like the good old days) Way back when!
