Re: Fix for air intake on lifted ClubCar Gas
Just a note. In order to get the Briggs part to attach to the carb, I shaved 1/4 inch from the nut side of the 1/2 inch thick base with a dremel tool. Otherwise I would have to have replaced the studs with longer versions.[/QUOTE]
You know I forgot I had to do that too. I use a 1/2 in forsner drill bit and a drill press to shave off that 1/4 inch. I think a dremel would of been easier. I was worried I`d break the flange. CartTrader |

Re: Fix for air intake on lifted ClubCar Gas
Time for an update...
I've noticed that there seems to be a lot of inquiries lately about a snubber extension bracket to lower the front of the engine cradle on Club Car's, mostly due to excessive lifts (6"+), or just to level out the engine for correct oil/dipstick levels, or so the oil light won't come on! So, Here's how I did it with my 2007 Lynx/DS with 6" of lift! (3" Z and 3" Jake's spindle): After loosing my snubber a few times, I decided to lower the front of my engine cradle with a snubber extension bracket: (click pics to enlarge!) Snubber 4.jpg and this is what happened to my intake hose: Intake hose.jpg I also ran into a problem with my brake cables getting tight, but, it seems... that I'm the only one that has run into that problem! http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/lifte...-brackets.html I did a "make-shift" intake mod with stuff from the local DIY hardware store, but, I thought it was ugly! it worked... but, it was ugly! (I'm not even gonna show you! ) So, after seeing this thread, I ordered 3 of these B&S 90* intake elbows (1 for me, and 2 for others that I knew needed them!) When I was ready to put it on, and not really knowing what HCH, and CT were talking about with the mounting tabs, this is what I found... The base of the elbow is too thick for the mounting studs!: 024 (2).JPG So, I got out my 4" Makita angle grinder and ground off about a 1/4" from the nut side: One side done: 025 (2).JPG Both sides done: 026 (2).JPG |

Re: Fix for air intake on lifted ClubCar Gas
Then, I bought a 1/4" barb for the crankcase vent tube, drilled and tapped the elbow, cut the tip of the barb off, sealed the threads, and installed it!:
Note: use a brass barb! (I used a PVC barb because that's all they had, I'll have to replace it eventually!) 027 (2).JPG A couple pic's with it installed on the engine: 029.JPG 032.JPG Then, I picked up an 1-1/4" X 1-1/4" rubber adapter/union, and an 1-1/4" CPVC 90* elbow, installed them, and... DONE!: 033.JPG |

What thickness steel did you use Lockman? I'm guessing 1/4"? I don't want to use something too shoddy and yours has been done for a while so it seems to be holding up.

Re: Fix for air intake on lifted ClubCar Gas
I'm not sure... It was a cutoff of a 3' piece of flat stock that I bought at a big box store from the steel/aluminum rack.
I did it 3 years ago, the rest of the flat stock was used on another project. |
