72 Cushman goes slow in F, fast in R !!
I have what I believe is a 72 Cushman and when I put it in Reverse, it wants to go fast and strong but when I put it in Forward, it is very slow and weak. Anyone ever had this happen? Also anyone know where I can get parts? Thanks in advance, Billyzack

If you ever find out let me know. My Cushman does it too. I just drive in reverse if I want to catch up with my friends in their carts, ha ha ha

I just drive backwards and I smoke them! I wreck alot but I still smoke them. Also, when I push the gas pedal, right ehan it starts to engage, I hear a kind of crackling noise, I found out it was arcing where the armature moves along before it atarts to monve, anyone ever had this problem? I saw smoke come out of the shifter cover a couple of times too!

Its arcing because those contacts have gone bad, dont know what a cushman contact board looks like, but I am sure somebody on here will rescue you as I have seen some on here before.

yes the wiper arm speed controller ("round thing") can be an easily rehab. Let me know if you are still working on it. JH

And your problem is probably in the directional control switch which has a few items that wear out and need replacing for good battery power contact. JH
